We enjoy an excellent relationship with our immediate neighbours and we appreciate that we are located in a special residential area, given the heritage classification that Colonel Light Gardens has.
We have always been open to collaboration with local residents and their representative groups to enhance the physical amenity of the precinct, meet the ‘garden suburb’ principles and increase community access.
We offer free social membership to all our immediate neighbours and have had 2 of them become club sponsors as a result. We have many local residents who are not Club members but use our facilities on a social basis. Discounts for both court hire and clubhouse hire are available to Colonel Light Gardens residents.
We have a number of CLG residents aged from 8 to 80 who are members of our club, participating in both competition and social forms of tennis.
There are additional CLG residents who use the facility on a casual basis. In particular the weekday evening ‘FAST4’ social tennis players.
We are proud that we have been able to maintain this important recreational facility for local residents for nearly 100 years.
We donate the use of our facility each year for an annual fundraising event called the Susie Linford Memorial fundraising day for Ovarian Cancer and subsidise hire for other events that support charities.
We also have recently donated the use of our facility for the SA vision impaired Tennis team Quiz night fundraising as well as for the ANZ Hot Shots Carnivals which is attended by local Primary Schools including Colonel Light Gardens Primary.
We are very keen to open up the Club to the community for additional usage and access to this asset.
It is important to us that all local residents are aware of the opportunities our club offers – not just limited to competitive tennis.
We also have excellent clubhouse facilities that we are willing to share with local clubs or associations that are looking for facilities. This is subject to what is allowed for under our lease and subject to Council approval.
